President Donald Trump criticized Gov. Greg Abbott on Truth Social on Tuesday night, shortly after Abbott conceded the Texas governor's race to Democrat Gina Hinojosa. Trump called Abbott a "RINO," a term that stands for "Republican in name only."

In his post, Trump said Abbott would have won if he had not become a RINO in the last six months of his political career. He said Abbott returned to his earlier approach, which he described as not working well. In a follow-up post, Trump said he would act as a political commentator on why candidates won or lost.

According to The Associated Press, Hinojosa defeated Abbott, ending his bid for a fourth term. She will be the first Democratic governor of Texas since 1995. CBS Austin said it had contacted Abbott's office for a response.
