Republicans are working to keep their current majority, while Democrats are looking to flip the seat. Both candidates held rallies Monday as they made their final push to get voters to the polls.
Democrat James Talarico spoke on the final night of his "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts" tour. He said supporters should give everything in the final hours of the campaign. Talarico framed the race as a fight against a corrupt political system and as a contest between working families and billionaire interests. He said the race is about everyday Texans versus the wealthy and powerful, and he said he would bring change. He called Republican Ken Paxton the most corrupt politician in Texas history and said Paxton serves himself.
In Allen, Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton spoke to supporters at a Tex-Mex restaurant. Paxton had planned to end his "Come and Take It" bus tour at the Alamo but canceled that event. He told voters that a Talarico victory could help Democrats take control of the U.S. Senate, and he said the race would affect the future of Texas and the country.
