The Houston Police Department said a man shot the woman he was dating at an apartment complex on Stella Link Road in Southwest Houston just before 9 p.m. Friday. Police said the shooting happened in the complex's courtyard, after the man came to pick her up. The woman had been visiting the man's family and had spoken to him on the phone.
HPD said the man pulled out a gun and shot the woman in the stomach and leg. Lt. Pulido said the man shoved her to the ground and walked away, and the man's family gave her aid. Police said officers do not know whether the two had an argument before the shooting.
Officers are still looking for the suspect, but they found his car nearby. The woman was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, HPD said. Police said they are patrolling the area and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
