Forecasters said Tropical Storm Vance is moving northwest off Mexico's coast with winds of 45 mph and has weakened slightly. Vance could eventually send moisture toward Texas later this week, toward the end of the week, according to the forecast. Heavy rain could cause flooding and mudslides in parts of western Mexico, and forecasters said large waves and rip currents are expected along the coast.
The Atlantic is quiet, and no tropical development is expected there over the next seven days.
Subtropical Storm Josephine has formed off the U.S. East Coast. It is expected to become a non-tropical storm with hurricane-force winds by Friday. No coastal watches or warnings are in effect, but strong wind gusts and some coastal flooding are possible in parts of the northeastern U.S. Forecasters put the chance it develops tropical storm features at 40 percent.
