KBTX forecasters said November's first storm system will likely overshadow any storm chance over the Halloween weekend. Their 10-day forecast shows the best current chance for storms on Election Day.

According to the station, a strong low pressure system is expected to move south from this weekend into early next week, likely pulling Canadian air with it. The clash of air masses could bring at least scattered showers and storms, and the rain could be the best the area has seen since early October. The station said the more favorable severe weather setup appears to stay to the northeast, but the forecast could change if the low dips farther south.

The station issued a First Alert Weather Day because of the rain and storm chance and a large temperature swing. Forecasters said they are fairly confident temperatures will drop, but how much cooler is still to be determined. They said the system should bring autumn air into the Brazos Valley before the middle of the week.
