The Columbus Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 900 block of Travis Street in Columbus before 6 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.

Firefighters found smoke coming from a detached workshop and began fighting the fire right away. They quickly knocked it down and stopped it from spreading further. The building was unoccupied at the time.

The Columbus Police Department and Colorado County EMS assisted at the scene.
