The Rice Raiders football team has qualified for the playoffs after a player eligibility ruling was overturned on appeal. The ruling had threatened to force the team to forfeit several district games.

At a hearing held at 1:45 p.m. Friday, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) found that the player was eligible to compete. The Raiders will not have to forfeit any games as a result.

The Raiders are scheduled to play their final regular-season game Friday night at Van Vleck High School.
