Colorado County recorded 41% turnout among registered voters, or 6,153 ballots cast, when early voting closed on Friday, Oct. 30, the 12th and final day. Elections Administrator Rebecka LaCourse said the total topped all elections since 2008, except the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections.
On Oct. 28, LaCourse said the county had passed its historical early voting turnout for a midterm election, with 5,016 voters at that point. She said the highest midterm total in the county was 7,673 voters, in 2018. Statewide, about 7.7 million Texans, or 41% of registered voters, cast ballots early, which the county said beat the state's 2018 early voting rate of 40%.
Across the county, the most votes were cast at the start and end of the period and the fewest over the weekend of Oct. 24 and 25, when Sunday had reduced hours. LaCourse said polling locations ran out of "I Voted" stickers on Oct. 27. Precinct 3 cast the most ballots on most days.
