Plano police arrested a 22-year-old man they say was driving a Ford F150 that collided with a Toyota RAV4 on Friday night. Police said the RAV4 was turning left onto Cross Bend Road from Alma Drive around 7:15 p.m. when the pickup struck it. The SUV overturned, and both vehicles hit a traffic signal pole and a tree.
Officers said both people in the RAV4 were unconscious when they arrived. Plano Fire Rescue crews removed them from the vehicle and tried life-saving measures, but both were pronounced dead. Police said alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors. The man, identified by police as Steve Jaramillo, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The names of the victims have not been released. Police said additional charges will be considered pending the outcome of the investigation.
