The Regional Coordination Committee approved several legislative priorities at its October meeting, ahead of early filing for the 2027 state legislative session. The committee works to preserve Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth as a military asset while improving surrounding communities. Rebekah Gongora, a project manager for the North Central Texas Council of Governments, presented the priorities.

One priority is making sure wind turbines, communications towers, lighting and foreign-government investment do not affect military flight operations. Wind energy was a main focus, because two bills the committee supported in 2025 did not pass. One would have required Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Defense approval for new wind projects. The other would have required voter approval for wind, solar or energy-storage facilities in counties with more than 10,000 residents.

The committee also backed continued full funding for the Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant Program and the Texas Military Value Revolving Loan Fund. The grant program provides infrastructure funding to defense communities affected by Department of Defense changes or announced changes. The loan fund provides financial assistance to Texas defense communities. The committee was also given an update on road construction projects near the base.
