Anson used big plays on the ground and through the air to build an early lead before Hico answered with a long touchdown pass. Anson quarterback Grayson Feagan ran up the middle for a 20-yard touchdown, and a missed point-after attempt left Anson ahead 6-0.
Anson later went ahead 13-0 on a 45-yard touchdown by Levii Diaz, who got the ball from Feagan. Hico responded on its next possession. Tyler Rainwater threw to CJ Colt, who ran 50 yards down the sideline for a touchdown, cutting Anson's lead to 13-7.
Anson answered with a deep pass from Feagan to Easton Nichols in the back of the end zone. A two-point try was unsuccessful, and Anson led 19-7.
