Voters in the Comal Independent School District rejected two bond propositions totaling $567 million on the Nov. 3 ballot. In a statement Wednesday, Superintendent John Chapman said district leadership and the board of trustees will review priorities and seek community input on the challenges and opportunities ahead. He said the district appreciated the time families and community members spent learning about the proposals.
Proposition A would have funded $539,955,000 for school facilities, sites, school buses and vehicles, and a tax to pay principal and interest. In Comal County, 60.28% of voters opposed it. Proposition B would have provided $27 million for technology equipment, systems and infrastructure, including new classroom computers and devices. Sixty percent of voters rejected it.
Guadalupe County residents also rejected the two measures. Under state law, the bonds were labeled property tax increases on the ballot. Statewide, voters almost unanimously rejected billions of dollars in bond and tax proposals, the report said.
