Three Abilene voters who spoke with KTXS said party, faith, the economy and border security influenced their choices in the upcoming November races. Two said they voted for Republicans across the ballot.

Larry, whose last name was not confirmed, said he supports President Donald Trump and named border security, military strength and world peace as priorities. He said campaign ads had not changed his choices. Jeanette Johnson said her Christian faith guides her decisions and that she voted for Republicans. She said she uses a voter guide compiled by a member of her church and is skeptical of campaign messages from both sides.

Kyle McAllister did not say which candidates he supported. He said his priorities are a stronger economy, fiscal responsibility and secure borders, and that immigration and border security can coexist. McAllister, who said he previously served on City Council, said he looks at whether candidates can manage government finances and treat others with respect. He said political disagreements have become too personal and that he wishes people could disagree and still be civil.
