Fort Worth council members Elizabeth Beck and Macy Hill are calling for transparency and public involvement as Fort Worth ISD considers redeveloping land near historic Farrington Field. Documents obtained by a news outlet describe the stadium's possible future. They include an agreement signed by the district, the city and representatives of a private soccer group before bids were sought, as well as efforts to attract investors.

City spokesperson Sana Syed said the agreement is no longer applicable and that the city has made no funding commitments. On Oct. 26, Beck and Hill wrote to Superintendent Peter Licata asking the district to follow its newly approved real estate policy, conduct independent economic analyses and involve nearby residents. They also requested a joint stakeholder advisory committee and formal coordination between the city and the district.

Board President Pete Geren said Nov. 3 that the district's new policy sets steps to protect its financial interests and gives residents chances to weigh in. District spokesperson Evan Anderson did not answer specific questions about which requirements of the policy have been completed or how the district has responded to the council members' requests.
