The Horizon Texas Conference has released Part 2 of its podcast series on Methodist history. The episode focuses on myths, misremembered details and lesser-known facts about John Wesley and the United Methodist tradition. Host Rev. Kristin Warthen is joined by Dr. Emily Nelms Chastain of SMU Perkins School of Theology and Dr. Natalya Cherry of Brite Divinity School.
The episode opens with a question about a quote often attributed to Wesley. The guests say he did not say it. According to the description, the conversation also covers a comparison between Ted Lasso and Wesley, references to the musical Hamilton, and the claim that Wesley was ready for Zoom and TikTok.
The conference said the episode is meant for both lifelong Methodists and people new to Wesley. Part 1 of the series is also available.
