The University of Texas at Austin unveiled the name and logo for its new academic health system, UT Dell Medicine, on Tuesday. The name brings together Dell Medical School, UT's existing clinical practice and the planned UT Dell Medical Center. The clinical practice was previously known as UT Health Austin.

According to Dell Medical School Dean Claudia Lucchinetti, the logo features a shield connecting the system to UT, with a patient at its center and three burnt-orange forms representing clinical care, research and education. The logo was revealed on the Health Transformation Building.

Lucchinetti said site preparation begins this week on a 27-acre parcel of the UT Dell campus in northwest Austin, where the UT Dell Medical Center is set to open in 2030. The roughly $5 billion project is designed as AI native and will include cancer services from MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Lucchinetti said the system aims to coordinate care across specialties so patients with complex conditions can work with a team of doctors and other providers on a shared treatment plan. She also said Susan and Michael Dell committed an additional $750 million to UT this year, bringing their lifetime giving to the university to more than $1 billion.
