Clergy from across the Horizon Texas Conference gathered at Cedarbrake Retreat Center for the Do Justice Retreat. The three-day event included worship, spiritual formation and open conversation. Participants also discussed how the church can pursue justice together.
A new episode of the conference's podcast, POD Strangely Warmed, features a conversation from the retreat. Rev. Kristin Warthen speaks with Rev. Debra Crumpton and Rev. Julie Harding about the link between justice and discipleship. They discussed the courage to speak up, the importance of seeing every person as made in the image of God, and spiritual practices that can keep justice work from becoming isolating or exhausting.
The episode encourages listeners who want to work for justice but are unsure where to start to listen for God, take the next step and not do it alone.
