Early voting is underway in Texas through Oct. 30 for the 2026 midterm elections. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Voters in the Big Bend and Permian Basin are choosing among county-level races as well as the statewide contests for Texas governor and U.S. senator.
Marfa Public Radio has published a guide to some of the federal, state and local races and propositions on ballots in West Texas. The guide is not a complete list of every race on local ballots in the region. Many local races have only one candidate running unopposed, and some draw participation from only one party, according to the report.
Voting information, including polling locations and voter registration details, is available from the Texas Secretary of State's Office. Voters can also check their county's website for polling locations. According to Brewster County's elections office, a candidate named Olayinka dropped out of a race after the deadline to remove names from ballots, so his name will still appear.
