Johnson City beat Bangs 28-27 on Friday night in the final regular-season game for both teams. The loss dropped Bangs (5-5, 2-3) to the fourth seed in District 7-2A Division I. Bangs will play District 8 champion Axtell (10-0), ranked third, at 7 p.m. Thursday at Clifton in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

Johnson City (6-4, 3-2) trailed 20-0 at halftime and 27-7 going into the fourth quarter. The Eagles had rallied from a 22-point deficit the previous week to beat Coleman 37-22. Bangs finished with 372 yards of total offense, including 222 rushing and 150 passing. Two turnovers hurt the Dragons, and they missed their first extra point attempt of the game, which was the difference in the contest, according to the report.

Connor Bible rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 33 yards and another score before an injury limited him in the second half. Jaxon Duncan added 49 rushing yards and a 27-yard completion. Ryder Duncan completed 10 of 18 passes for 123 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Ryan Alqorum led Bangs receivers with four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.
