A 27-year-old Odessa mother says a man banged on her front door around 9 a.m. on the Sunday after Halloween. She said the man asked about a visitor's truck parked outside and said he would have it towed before he identified himself. The man later identified himself as Odessa City Councilman Eddie Mitchell of District 1.
The resident said Mitchell seemed offended that she did not recognize him. She said he told her he was there about trash reported on the curb a week earlier, and she said she had already resolved that issue with her landlord. She has filed a report with the Odessa Police Department.
She said she is considering moving because she no longer feels secure in her home. She plans to speak about the encounter at the Odessa City Council meeting on Nov. 17. The city of Odessa and each council member, including Mitchell, were contacted individually for comment.
