Rain showers, and a few storms at times, are expected across the Permian Basin this weekend, according to the forecast from CBS7 Permian Basin. Showers are forecast to begin in far West Texas and southeast New Mexico before sunrise Saturday and reach the Permian Basin just after sunrise. The forecast says a second round of rain is expected late Saturday night into Sunday.
Highs are forecast in the 50s on Saturday and in the 50s and 60s on Sunday. The best chance of rain on Sunday is expected along and south of I-20 in the morning and early afternoon, and rain is expected to taper off Sunday night into Monday morning. The forecast puts most areas at about 0.25 to 0.75 inches of rain through Sunday, with isolated totals above 1 inch, mainly to the southeast.
The forecast says localized flooding is possible where heavier rain falls, but widespread flooding is not expected. Temperatures are forecast to return to seasonable levels next week, with highs in the 60s and 70s and mostly dry, sunny conditions.
