Voters in Groves elected candidates for mayor, two city council seats and city marshal in the November 3, 2026 General Election.

In the Nederland Independent School District, Proposition A, a tax rate increase, was rejected. Unofficial results showed 4,963 votes, or 54.35%, against the proposition and 4,169 votes, or 45.65%, in favor. The district said the preliminary results will become official when its Board of Trustees canvasses the votes.

The district said Proposition A would have provided $4.1 million in new funding this fiscal year for its maintenance and operations budget. The money would have gone to teacher and staff pay, student programs, safety and security, and student devices. The district said costs have risen nearly 20% over five years due to inflation, while state funding increased by less than 1%. Superintendent Dr. Steven Beagle said the district is disappointed and will start developing a plan. He said the district will explore ways to cut costs and is weighing more substantial reductions.
