Christianna Mosley, 17, won Queen at the Cavoilcade Pageant. She said the experience helped her build confidence, strengthen family relationships and serve her community. Mosley is a senior at Woodrow Wilson Early College High School and is color guard captain at Memorial High School.
Cavoilcade is an introductory scholarship pageant for participants with little or no pageant experience. Mosley said participants received guidance on etiquette, professional presentation, interview skills and communication. The program also included family activities, including a picnic with fathers. Mosley said balancing schoolwork, color guard and pageant events was not always easy.
Mosley said she was honest with the judges about a difficult morning before her interview. When asked what success means to her, she answered "service above self." She said volunteering, including work with the United Board of Missions and community food distribution, gives her a sense of accomplishment. She plans to use her scholarship toward a neuroscience degree at Baylor University, with the goal of becoming a neurosurgeon.
