The estate of Richard Perkins, described as Southeast Texas's first Black opera singer, will be offered for sale at the St. Mark's Chili Supper and Bizarre. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at St. Mark's, 680 Calder Ave., in Beaumont. The sale is set to benefit St. Mark's.

Perkins died in 2025. The announcement said his estate includes personal style items, including clothing, and some jewelry. Shoppers can check out at the Treasure House booth. Because of limited space, not all items will be shown on Thursday. Those items will later be sold at Treasure House, 805 North St., in Beaumont.

Krysta Coffee, Perkins's wife, said he worked at Norman's Menswear and that customers often told him they wanted to look like him. The announcement said his life is being archived at the Port Arthur Library, and he is being considered for induction into the Museum of the Gulf Coast.
