A private jet crashed in a neighborhood in Greenacres, Florida, about 7 miles southwest of West Palm Beach, on Sunday. Adam Robinson, a Texas tech entrepreneur, his wife, Helen Sharp, and their children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, were among those killed, relatives said in a statement posted on Facebook on Monday. The family's friends, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, and the children's nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, were also on the plane. According to his LinkedIn page, Robinson was the founder and CEO of several tech companies.
Jeff Gregory was identified as the pilot of the Bahamas-bound Learjet, according to a spokesperson for East Coast Jets, a private charter company where Gregory worked in 2016-17. Family members identified the co-pilot as 20-year-old Nathalia G. Filgueiras.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. National Transportation Safety Board investigators said they found evidence that the aircraft started breaking up before it hit the ground, and that debris could be spread widely. They expect to be at the site for several days. Weather will be a major focus, investigators said. Rain fell on the region Sunday, and one of the pilots reported icing at a high altitude to air traffic control. Hundreds of people in the community are dealing with the aftermath, and some spent the night in a shelter.
