A cold front will move into North Texas by Tuesday morning, and forecasters say it could bring strong to severe thunderstorms tonight and into early Tuesday. Storms are expected in the Dallas-Fort Worth area between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., and forecasters say they should reach East Texas by 4 a.m.
The main threats are damaging winds and large hail. Forecasters said the overall tornado threat is low but a brief spin-up cannot be ruled out. A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for Eastland, Comanche and Erath counties until 10:45 p.m., citing quarter-sized hail and wind gusts of 60 mph.
Behind the front, forecasters expect a breezy, mostly sunny and cooler Election Day on Tuesday, with a high near 73. The rest of the week is expected to be quiet, with highs in the 70s.
