A man arrested Thursday is accused of fleeing from police during a traffic stop and crashing his vehicle on New Boston Road in Texarkana, Texas, according to police. The man, Tre'von Robinson, 22, was treated for a leg injury from the crash, the Texarkana Texas Police Department said. He was booked into the Bi-State jail on charges of felony evading arrest and leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries. Police also said Robinson has an outstanding felony probation warrant from Louisiana.
An Arkansas officer tried to stop the vehicle Thursday afternoon on State Line Avenue. Police said the vehicle was linked to a recent hit-and-run on the Arkansas side of town and that the driver had gotten away once before. Police said the driver then fled through the Highland Park neighborhood. Officer Jose Chavez joined the pursuit near College Drive. Police said the driver lost control while turning onto New Boston Road, hit a fence and struck a truck.
Police allege that the driver then ran from the scene. Witnesses pointed officers in his direction, and officers set up a perimeter. Sgt. Brad Thacker and Officer Payne Carter found Robinson hiding in an alley near West 15th Street, about three blocks from the crash, police said. Police said Robinson had a minor leg injury. The driver of the truck reported minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.
