The Chosen One Ink, a 16-year-old piercing and tattoo shop in Arlington, hosts an annual haunted house each October. Admission requires a canned food donation for its neighbor, Mission Arlington.
This year's event ran from Oct. 3 to Oct. 31. Children, parents, teenagers and adults attended in costume. By the end of the month, the attraction had drawn 4,279 visitors and produced three truck bed loads of canned food donations.
Tattoo artist Karina Brundrett, who coordinates the haunted house, said, "It's for fun and for a good cause." She said she received donation boxes as a child and sees giving back as important. Karina has worked at the shop for a decade alongside her husband, shop owner Matt Brundrett.
