Hooks High School's Corbin Edwards has been named the Texarkana Gazette's Player of the Week after the Hornets beat Redwater 76-60 last week. The Gazette said Hooks has earned the honor several times this season, and this is the first time Edwards has won it alone. He shared the award earlier in the season with teammate Kavon Stiger.

Edwards carried the ball 23 times and ran for 305 yards with six rushing touchdowns. Head coach Todd Ledford said earlier in the season that he asked Edwards to change positions and try something he had not done before in high school football. The Gazette reported that Edwards has helped the Hornets earn the top seed in District 9-3A Division II.

Redwater quarterback Braelan Morgan also had a strong game, the Gazette reported. He completed 13 of 19 passes for 318 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns. Redwater enters this week with a chance to secure a playoff spot.
