A former Dillard's store at Pasadena Town Square Mall, at 100 Pasadena Boulevard, is being converted into a $75 million public health center. The 60,000-square-foot Pasadena Square Health Center is expected to open in late 2028, according to Harris Health.
Harris Health said about 31% of Pasadena residents under age 65 lack health insurance, citing U.S. Census data. The new center will combine three existing Harris Health locations: Strawberry Health Center, the Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center – Pasadena, and Urgent Care at Strawberry Health Center. Planned services include primary care, pediatric and adolescent specialty care, urgent care, laboratory testing, X-rays and a pharmacy.
Harris County approved $16 million earlier to acquire the former department store. Harris County's 2026 Access to Care Report identified cost, transportation, language differences and difficulty navigating the health care system as barriers to care. Harris Health said the larger location will improve access and coordination of medical services.
