Abilene High scored first. Its seven-play opening drive ended with a touchdown by Symanni Strahan. Quarterback Tristan Beal had earlier run the ball up the sideline to near the 30-yard line.
Tascosa tied the score when quarterback Brayden Lin-A-Men threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Vallejo. After Abilene High did not gain a first down on its next possession, Vallejo took a pitch, hurdled a defender and moved Tascosa into the red zone. Lin-A-Men then ran in behind his line for the touchdown that put Tascosa ahead.
Abilene High went on to win the game 28-21.
