Hearts of Henderson is marking its seventh year of collecting food for local families. The holiday drive benefits Henderson Interchurch Ministry, also known as H.I.M., and PALS, and this year it adds an online giving option.
Founder Becky Massengale credited the generosity of Henderson residents with providing enough food over the past couple of years to support both organizations. Residents who receive a collection bag are asked to place donated food in a bag or box on their front porch before 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. Organizers will collect the donations that morning and deliver them to H.I.M. and PALS.
Residents outside the collection neighborhoods, including those in rural areas, can take part by scanning the QR code on the food drive flyer. The code leads to an Amazon wish list, and purchases ship directly to an organizer. Suggested items include stuffing mix, chicken broth, cranberry sauce, canned pumpkin, peanut butter, canned beans, pasta, rice and canned tuna or chicken. Donations are not limited to the suggested items.
