Houston police said a man who came to an apartment in northwest Houston on Saturday evening to deliver diapers shot and killed the 40-year-old mother of his child's mother. Police said he also shot his infant child in the abdomen before he was found dead inside the apartment.
Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 7700 block of Willow Chase Boulevard around 7:35 p.m. Police said the man and the 19-year-old mother of his child got into an argument, and he drew a firearm. The 40-year-old woman was shot in the back. The 19-year-old was not hurt and rushed the wounded infant outside. Officers found the suspect with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Lt. Pulido of the Houston Police Department said officers performed CPR on the 40-year-old woman and applied a chest seal before paramedics arrived. Houston Fire Department paramedics took both victims to a nearby hospital. The woman was pronounced dead on arrival. The infant remains in critical condition.
The HPD Homicide Division is investigating. Police have not released the names of the victims or the suspect pending family notification.
