Through Wednesday, 15,985 early votes had been cast in Kendall County, or 38.7% of registered voters, according to county figures. Elections Administrator Staci Decker said that is about average for an even-year election when the governor's race was the top contest on the ballot. She said turnout is on par with 2018, maybe a little lower, and that the 2018 election had just under 47% turnout.

Decker said she had hoped turnout would grow during the second week of early voting, but she said she was not seeing that yet. County officials hoped the total could reach 50% by the end of early voting on Friday. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Daily totals in the first week of early voting were above 1,800 each weekday. The opening day, Oct. 19, drew 2,156 voters. In the second week, 1,488 ballots were cast on Monday, 1,501 on Tuesday and 1,351 on Wednesday. Decker said the final days of early voting usually bring larger numbers.
