A cold front is moving east and southeast across the Dallas-Fort Worth area Tuesday morning. It is ending overnight storms for most of the region and bringing gusty winds and cooler weather. Northwest winds are forecast to blow at 25 mph Tuesday, with some gusts stronger than that.
Non-severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and lightning are continuing south and east of the Metroplex. Forecasters said this increases the chance of localized flooding from Athens to Cayuga and Fairfield. Light to moderate rain was also falling on the east side of Canton. Most polling locations open at 7 a.m. with dry conditions, but voters in and around Palestine may have to wait until late Tuesday morning for the rain to clear.
Afternoon highs Tuesday are expected in the upper 60s to low 70s, down from 85 degrees on Monday. Wednesday morning lows are forecast in the 40s and 50s, with highs in the low 70s. Highs are expected to reach the mid-to-upper 70s Thursday before a dry cold front passes Thursday evening into the night, with only a slight chance of a shower along the Red River. From Friday through Monday, temperatures are expected to stay near normal.
