Bexar County voters are going to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 3, to decide several races, including a U.S. Senate contest and the county judge race. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at dozens of locations. More than half a million county residents cast early ballots, a new early voting record for a midterm election, and long lines are expected at some sites.
The Senate race pits Republican Ken Paxton against Democrat James Talarico. In Texas' 23rd Congressional District, Republican Brandon Herrera faces Democrat Katy Padilla Stout. Democrat Ron Nirenberg, a former San Antonio mayor, is running against Republican Patrick Von Dohlen for county judge. Voters in Northside ISD and San Antonio ISD are also considering school bond proposals.
Voters must present one of seven accepted photo identification forms, such as a Texas driver's license or U.S. passport. Voters ages 18 to 69 can use most accepted IDs that have expired for up to four years, and voters 70 and older can use an otherwise valid ID regardless of how long it has been expired. Voters who cannot reasonably obtain an accepted ID can sign a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and show a supporting document. Voters who forget their ID may cast a provisional ballot and have six calendar days after Election Day to present identification. Anyone in line by 7 p.m. will still be allowed to vote.
