The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season is nearly over. Pre-season forecasts had expected a quiet year because of a developing Super El Niño. Even so, Texas saw three landfalling tropical storms.
Tropical Storm Arthur moved up the Texas coast and its center came ashore near Galveston, but little to no impacts were felt in Texas. Flooding near Opelousas, Louisiana, and dozens of tornadoes followed in Louisiana. Tropical Storm Bertha's center passed over San Antonio, with gusty winds and little rainfall on land, and some coastal flooding. Tropical Storm Edouard brought gusty winds to Central Texas and spawned a landspout tornado, while heavy rain largely stayed away from the area.
The season had no hurricanes in September and through early October. Hurricane Isaias later made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane near Destin, Florida, after being a Category 3 storm. The source describes power outages and flooding across Alabama.
