The City Council of Marfa will hold a public hearing on Nov. 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Casner Room at City Hall, according to a public notice.
The hearing covers proposed amendments to the city's Planning and Zoning Ordinance 02-04. The notice says the changes are meant to address housing affordability and increase housing opportunities. The proposals would remove the mixed-use prohibition, add form-based area rules for dwellings outside the R-1 Single Family Residential District, relax street frontage requirements for dwellings in commercial and industrial districts, and require all dwelling units to have one or more off-street parking spaces.
Residents and property owners may comment at the hearing or submit comments in writing by email. The full text of the proposed amendments and the Planning & Zoning Commission's recommendation report are available on the city's website, cityofmarfa.com.
