Susan Hays, a Democrat, won the Presidio County Precinct 4 commissioner seat with 459 votes to 264 for write-in candidate Ida Dominguez, according to unofficial results. The seat had been held by Frank "Buddy" Knight, who was appointed after David Beebe resigned when he ran for county judge too early to meet constitutional requirements. Knight said at his appointment that he did not plan to run. Ida Dominguez is the wife of Sheriff Danny Dominguez.
In the only other contested Presidio County race, Democrat Bianca Bailon defeated Republican Amabilia Galindo 677 to 305. Several other Democrats were reelected without Republican opponents, including County Judge Joe Portillo, County and District Clerk Carolina Catano, Treasurer Florcita Zubia and Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Dina Jo Marquez. Jesus "Junie" Herrera was elected Precinct 2 commissioner, and Obed Esonterias, who was appointed in March, won the Precinct 3 commissioner seat.
In Brewster County, Democrat Felipe Ferrero beat write-in candidate Micky Cox 1,981 to 270 for Precinct 1 justice of the peace. Democratic incumbent Susana Gonzales defeated Republican Michael Johnson 129 to 110. All results are unofficial until the local government entities canvass the votes.
