Vice President JD Vance said Texas would have surrendered if voters do not elect Ken Paxton to the U.S. Senate on Nov. 3. He spoke Thursday at a Republican campaign rally at JRJ Construction in Weatherford. About a dozen Republicans spoke at the three-hour event.
Speakers urged conservative voters to go to the polls and vote for the Republican ticket from the top down. Comptroller Don Huffines said this is the only way to keep the "demon party" out of Texas. Most speakers were Republican candidates, including Huffines, Attorney General candidate Mayes Middleton, Craig Goldman for Congressional District 12 and Brandon Gill for Congressional District 26.
The U.S. Senate race between Paxton, the Texas attorney general, and Democratic state Rep. James Talarico was a main focus. Organizers said about 3,000 people filled the new warehouse and an overflow area outside. The building was crowded, hot and humid. Vance said the crowd's enthusiasm showed how eager attendees were to vote for Republicans, especially Paxton.
