The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention (SBTC) is marking five years of service by Nathan Lorick as its executive director. Lorick was unanimously chosen in February 2021 as the convention's second executive director. He succeeded Jim Richards, who had served as the founding executive director since 1998 and announced plans to retire in November 2020.
The SBTC Executive Board recognized Lorick and his wife, Jenna, at a meeting earlier this year. The couple has four children and lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Lorick said it has been a joy to serve the convention's churches over the past five years. He said he believes the SBTC is the greatest network of churches in the country.
Before returning to Texas to lead the SBTC, Lorick was executive director of the Colorado Baptist General Convention. He previously served as SBTC evangelism director from 2012 to 2017 and pastored several Texas churches. He also served on the SBTC Executive Board from 2006 to 2012 and as a trustee of the International Mission Board from 2010 to 2017. SBTC Executive Board chairman Wes Hinote said Lorick has continued to lead with conviction and a clear vision.
