The Marfa City Council will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the city's Planning and Zoning Ordinance 02-04 on Nov. 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Casner Room at City Hall, according to a public notice. The notice said the changes are meant to address the housing affordability crisis and increase housing opportunities.

The four proposed amendments would remove the mixed-use prohibition in Article 1, Section 5; add form-based area regulations for dwellings in districts other than the R-1 Single Family Residential District; relax street frontage requirements for dwellings in Commercial and Industrial districts; and require all dwelling units to have one or more off-street parking spaces.

Residents and property owners may speak at the hearing or send written comments to asalgado@cityofmarfa.com. The full text of the proposed amendments and the Planning & Zoning Commission's recommendation report are posted at cityofmarfa.com.
