Authorities are searching for an armed robbery suspect who ran from a convenience store robbery near the Jasper and Sabine county line, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies responded at about 7:09 a.m. Sunday to a Valero in the 15000 block of U.S. Highway 96 North on an armed robbery call. The sheriff's office said deputies secured the scene and interviewed the store clerk.
The sheriff's office described the suspect as about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing about 240 pounds. Deputies said the suspect wore all black, possibly a "Scream" character costume, along with what appeared to be a balaclava and dark glasses. According to investigators, the suspect ran east on foot through a wooded area behind the store.
