The Presidio City Council voted to increase rates for water and landfill use as part of an effort to raise revenue. All water and landfill base rates will rise by 2%.
Customers who use more than 2,000 gallons of water a month will pay $3.75 per thousand gallons, an increase of $0.25. Mayor John Ferguson said, "A small increase is fair to the city, and it won't hit the citizens that hard."
The council discussed a larger increase but chose a smaller one. It also plans to repair water meters and study how the change affects customers.
