An upscale venue called The Fault is planned for the Wonder World tower in San Marcos and is expected to open by the end of the year. The name refers to the venue's location on the Balcones Fault, where the Hill Country meets the plains. The speakeasy-style space will hold about 40 to 50 people and sits 110 feet in the air.
Wonder World owner Kristin Williams said the venue can be booked in full, and her son, a mobile bartender, can be hired as an add-on. Williams also said the owners plan to host weekly public events so people can attend without booking the whole space.
Interior designer Maritza Sabogal, a former vintage furniture and decor broker, is designing the space. She said it will reflect the 1920s, with Art Deco pieces, historic Wonder World photos, pops of color, dim lighting, a bartop, lounge areas and an old pair of binoculars for the views. Williams and Sabogal said they hope The Fault will help put San Marcos on the map as a destination for upscale nightlife.
