The First Alert weather team said a cold front will move southeast across Texas on Tuesday, which is Election Day. Voters heading to the polls were advised to bring rain gear, especially early in the day. Forecasters said the rain could be the heaviest coverage in almost a month.
The team said a line of showers and thunderstorms, with coverage of 70% or more, is expected to move from northwest to southeast through the morning. Some rain could continue into the afternoon farther southeast. Rain totals of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible along the main line of storms.
Cooler, drier air is forecast to arrive Tuesday night, with overnight lows in the mid-50s and Wednesday afternoon highs in the mid-70s. The team said rain chances of 20% are possible Thursday and into the following weekend, but forecasters said those systems look weaker than Tuesday's.
