Voters in the Town of Double Oak rejected the sale of alcohol within town limits in Tuesday's election. The vote was 1,020 against (55.62%) and 814 for (44.38%). The town will remain dry for at least another year, according to Bernie Carrico, a former Double Oak mayor and chairman of Concerned Citizens for Double Oak Growth. Carrico said the proposal cannot go back to voters until then.

The item reached the ballot after a citizen-led group collected 680 signatures on a petition and brought it to the Double Oak Town Council. A proposed commercial development that would bring a grocery store to the corner of FM 407 and Simmons Road was expected to be one of the town's last large commercial projects. The outcome was described as a setback for that project.

Voters in Bartonville, Flower Mound and Justin also decided whether to reauthorize local sales taxes dedicated to street maintenance and repairs. As of 11 p.m., all three measures were on track to pass. In Bartonville, 628 voted for (82.85%) and 130 against (17.15%). In Flower Mound, 24,207 voted for (76.36%) and 7,496 against (23.64%). In Justin, 1,925 voted for (72.21%) and 741 against (27.79%).
