Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. at Main Street Baptist Church for a Van Zandt County mother and four of her children. Jasmine Henson and the four children died after their home near Canton caught fire on Oct. 21. Her husband, Cody, and their 7-year-old son, Grayson, survived. Officials have not released the cause of the fire.
In a joint statement, the Henson and Mitchell families thanked the community for its support and asked for privacy as they grieve and care for Cody and Grayson. The family is asking for donations to cover funeral costs and to help the father and son rebuild. Funeral expense donations can be made directly to Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline. Other support is being accepted through GoFundMe, Meal Train, Venmo and Cash App.
The family said Cody and Grayson need clothing, toiletries and household essentials. They asked that people not donate Tide products because of an allergy. Relatives said Grayson enjoys Fortnite, Minecraft, toys, fishing and being outdoors, and that gift cards for family-friendly outings would help the two create moments of comfort.
