FBI Dallas announced Tuesday the results of Summer Heat 2.0, an operation aimed at violent crime in North Texas. The operation ran from June 1 to Sept. 20 and led to 186 arrests.
The FBI said the operation identified or located 49 child victims. It also led to the seizure of 121 illegal firearms, 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl and 33 kilograms of cocaine. North Texas law enforcement agencies secured 71 convictions and obtained 169 indictments against violent crime suspects. Nationally, the FBI said the operation resulted in 8,927 arrests, 5,013 recovered illegally possessed weapons and 1,410 child victims located or identified. It said the national seizures included 27,512 kilograms of cocaine and 687 kilograms of fentanyl, an amount it said equals 52 million lethal doses.
The operation was first launched in the summer of 2025. FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock said the FBI's violent crime strategy relies on partnerships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. He said those partnerships led to significant progress on reducing violent crime in North Texas.
