Tarrant County Democrats said Wednesday that grassroots organizing and what they called "failed Republican leadership" helped them win every countywide office on the midterms ballot. Party chair Allison Campolo spoke at a news conference at the party's headquarters in south Fort Worth.
Campolo said the incoming officials reflect the county's diversity and voters' desire for change. She said "people power" from candidates, volunteers and residents mattered more than campaign spending.
The county judge seat flipped to Democrats for the first time in 40 years, according to the report, when voters elected Alisa Simmons, the first woman and first Black person to hold the position. The Tarrant County Commissioners Court also moved from a 3-2 Republican majority to a 4-1 Democratic majority.
